André is a partner who practises in the areas of corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital financing law at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. He advises a broad range of foreign and Canadian clients operating in various industries, including software, digital media, online commerce, financial services, retail, food and renewable energy. André has worked on several of the leading Canadian corporate transactions in the field of machine learning and AI, including the creation of Integrate.ai, the sale of DNNResearch (Professor Geoffrey Hinton’s deep learning team from the University of Toronto) to Google and the creation of OpenAI’s research team in the Bay Area.

André represents emerging and growth-stage businesses, leading academics and researchers, and strategic and financial investors in and acquirers of such businesses and teams, and he is involved in numerous local and national innovation, incubator and business accelerator initiatives. André regularly advises foreign companies investing in or establishing Canadian ventures, and helps structure, negotiate and implement a variety of complex commercial contracts involving the development, licensing and acquisition of intellectual property and technology.
