Chris’s practice consists of advising on securities and business law matters, with focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and private equity transactions. He has particular expertise in advising issuers, investment dealers and investors in the technology sector, including extensive experience working with technology companies. Chris has worked on IPOs by DALSA, DataMirror, Descartes, March Networks, MKS, NexJ, OpenText, Redknee, RIM, and Shopify.

"Entrepreneurs don’t think about problems in the same way that established companies do,” notes Chris. “Instead, every problem is brand new. This gives us the chance to take novel approaches to conventional problems. As a lawyer, that’s what’s exciting and interesting for me: taking creative, but pragmatic approaches to the issues new companies face."

Chris has also been involved in the development of securities regulation in Canada, having advised the Ontario Securities Commission in connection with its rules reformulation project, and the Toronto Stock Exchange in its review of rules governing listed companies.
